I remember pairing these guys up a whiole ago, just after Dawson beat Adamek, and then I thought that Dawson would be the only guy around that could beat Kessler on the outside. Dawson has moved along quite well since then, had a bit of a hiccup along the way, but hasn't been exposed or KO'd as some people thought. Kessler (despite his loss to Calzaghe) has also come along well. Dawson would control the fight imo, his slickness would keep Kessler at distance enough during the majority of the fight. Kessler's chance would be to go on the inside, and I believe he can do well on the inside as he showed he can go ok there against Calzaghe, it's just that he's never really needed to go there before. Kessler would have to break Dawson down to win. I don't believe he'd be able to just go out there and lead from the start. He'd have to break Dawson's gameplan, and be willing to tough it out in the process. Kessler can take some to land some, and this imo, is his chance against Dawson. All in all, I see Dawson winning a UD, but wouldn'tbe surprised if Kessler manages to get away with it, and I'm sure he'll give Dawson reason to be cautious along the way as Dawson has trouble dictating the fight for the whole 12 rounds. Dawson UD, in a hard fight.
dawson by late stoppage. his fluid combos would get through and hurt kessler. he was hurt(no knocked down or even made to stumble by calzaghe by noticeably hurt ) so i think chads work rate would be his undoing. forget that fight anyway lets get taylor and kessler. 2 guys on a serious comeback trail. chad is dominating his division why would that fight even happen? Cant call a winner on that fight but i'd be cheering for taylor since so many have already written him off as a glass jawed HBO hypejob for losing to one fighter.
All this talk of Dawson being on the brink of greatness. Were you guys saying this after his performace against Johnson? Or after he was looking exhausted in the later rounds and got dropped by Adamek? He beat Tarver who was embarrassed by Hopkins and coming off of a snooze-fest against Clinton Woods. What now makes Dawson on the brink of greatness? Brinks of greatness becoming meaningless if we throw them around this readily.
Kessler. It's Mundine all over again. I would love to see this fight, but I don't think Chad's team will ever make it. They ran from Diaconu, no reason not to run from Kessler as well. Kessler's not old enough for Team Dawson's tastes, nor is he dying to make the weight like Adamek was.
Dawson beat Tarver slightly less convincingly than Hopkins did,so I'm guessing he would beat Kessler slightly less convincingly than Calzaghe did.Dawson by close but clear decision(eg mosley-De La Hoya 1)
This is a tough one... If Kessler won't be able to hurt Dawson, it would be a wide UD for Chad. Very interesting fight it would be though! Make it happen!!! :boxx
Kessler is not as powerful as people think, look at the Andrade,Thysee and Lucas fights. But he is very effective at what he does and it will take an exceptional fighter to hand him his second loss.
