Everybody mentions it was a robbery but no one mentions that it was a pretty exciting fight. Oscar seemed capable of winning the fight if he didn't stand right in front of Sturm.

Yeah, it was a good scrap and Mayweather Sr. was funny as hell in between rounds. Had Sturm winning 7-5, though.

Oscar looked fat, unprepared, and sloppy.

I had it 6-6, I score body work because I'm old school.

I was at it. My first big fight in the States.

It was a very good show but I was an Oscar fan and thought he took a liberty by under estimating Sturm. The judges saved his ass.

It's funny how this topic comes up every 18 months about this robbery when Oscar goes up for his first and only fight at 160lbs versus a 20-0 young fighter. Yet every 12 threads someone feels the need to create a thread about FMJ vs Castillo in his first attempt at a new weight versus a fighter that was considered the top fighter at that division....And that **** will get 20 pages.

I was at the fight and I thought Oscar won. Sturm just refused to throw punches. Oscar was shoeshining and wasn't hurting him with anything, but he was at least letting his hands go. At least that's the impression I got at the time, haven't rewatched the fight on video.

Good fight i'm a big fan of De La Hoya but at the most I could only argue he should have got a draw, no way he won the fight.

I think I had Sturm winning by about 3 points.

Sturm was even showboating. His jab was snapping his head back throughout the fight. I remember Sturm going southpaw for a couple of rounds. With the Hopkins fight around the corner it was always going to be Oscar getting the decision.

Sturm won clearly, it's a shame he was robbed since he's hidden in Germany ever since. He's past his prime now but he was a talent and could have done more.

Hopkins wide decision, I think it was more Sturm was just too big for Dlh.
