Seems dodgy to me that they have no #1 or #2 contender ranked - gives Mundine at #3 (which is still a joke) automatic mandatory at the title holder.
Medley at #15 has the look of a pawn conveniently put there for someone else to use too. Perhaps I'm being a little too skeptical? But then again...

IBF have a habit of having vacant ratings. Cruiser... #1 and #2 not rated. Lt. Heavy #1 not rated. S/Middle #1 and #2 not rated J/Middle #1 and #2 not rated Lightweight #1 and #2 not rated Feather #1 and #2 not rated and so on. :roll:
I suspect it's a way of ensuring more revenue via sanctioning fees - with no #1 and #2 contenders, it would possibly mean more chance of elimination fights - thereby ensuring sanctioning fees for the IBF - for a shot at the champ?
by the look of the rankings that may be going on. This whole 'the first man to' business, I bet if he can beat Alverez he will claim it as 'the first man to'then move on, up. A fight with Medely would be a gauge to see where he is at anyhow. Eliminator for manditory spot against Geale. Everyones a winner.
Yeah, well he already fought Medley at MW, remember? It was supposed to be at JMW but a week out from the fight Mundine changed it to MW. He also already had the chance to rematch Geale, but vacated the IBO title and ran down to JMW, only to force Medley to come up to MW for their fight. Plus, as stated earlier, Medley hasn't been active for some time/is semi-retired, so what exactly would it be a gauge for?
Medely hasnt been that inactive. 3 months and he would be back where he was. A gauge because if Mundine can beat Medely better than first time then he may feel he has a shot against Geale and it will be worth a shot. If he only just gets past Medely then he may look at other options. Not saying Medely is a gauge for Geale's ability, but a gauge for Mundine to compare how he going compared to 18 months-2 years back.
