Orlin Norris had a really good defense and countered pretty good; except the bad thing is he had no power. None whatsoever... :smoke
:good:good..100% correct my friend..this is the point i tryd to get across to haye fans about hayes fight against wlad..they said wlad underestimated how good hayes defence was and uve summed it up for me..thanks brah:good:good
People (white people) in the early 1900s said this. Mostly because they were racist. Whites had been fighting like that for awhile and received tons of praise.
The obvious choices recently are byrd, jones, toney and haye. Obviously byrd was by far the most successful. Toney, however, had a great run beating holyfield, booker, ruiz, guinn and peter (he drew with rahman but it's been too long since I watched it to comment realistically)
Jones deserves mention even when he had only 1 fight at HW. Can we agree on Byrd being the best defensive Heavyweight ever?
Ibragimov and Haye spring to mind, but I can't really say who is the better. There are like two clones only separated by skin colour. Of course though Byrd is better than both. Famously defensive wizard Wlad Klitschko some how managed to crush all of the above with ease though.
not quite sure, I think tunney and ali were quite defensive minded. jack johnson also maybe even ezzard charles. but after that, byrd is certainly above young, spoon, jones, toney, haye. the thing is though a lot of the mentioned guys were average sized for their era. byrd was clearly smaller than almost everyone he fought.
Walcott and Johnson are probably the prime examples. More recently, Byrd and to some extent Povetkin.
