How can anyone complain about an "early stoppage" after seeing what happened to Enzo Macc? I would rather early then late thats for damn sure. Anyway, IMHO Degale is the real deal and will prove to be a better fighter than Nathan Cleverly (yes, i said it). While everyone was going gaga over Cleverly, I saw flaws...some had habits and mental traits that are gonna hamper is future prospects (I will elaborate on them later). The only concern for me about Degale's progress is the inactivity. At this stage of a young fighters development you either step up the comp or keep them very busy. This is not happening with Degale and i fear this may cause him to stagnate and not improve his skillset. I would have him out again as soon as mid to late october. He needs to become more comfortable in the ring, sharpen his skills and do things instinctively...no amount of sparring is gonna help him gain those skills that an actual fight will. This time is soo crucial in a fighters career. It's one of the major problems in boxing now that we have very few people, trainers or managers who understand how to develop/maximise a fighters potential.
Wheres the connection mate? If ref's are going to stop the fight that early they may as well not bother to fight. As for the Enzo stoppage i dont see any parallels with Degales stoppage. Feel free to point them out though. No just no. Im not sold on Cleverley at all. He's going to get eaten alive if he doesnt learn some defence when he steps up. That said Degale is certainly NOT the better of the two prospects. I dont see anything in Degale stylistically that makes me think he'll be anything more than another "Ordinary Harrison".
Missed this and look forward to watching it because out of all the fights on Saturday this was the most suprising result. Dilks isn't anything special but he was robbed against Adamu and looked more than capable of giving (a very overrated) Degale a hard night. When my mate txt me that the fight was over after 1 round my first thought was 'fix' Can't judge without watching so probably well off with this..... but for what it's worth that was my opinion at the time.
i'm no degale fan but dilks couldn't even get his punches off and could have been badly hurt if he was left to carry on. the reason he didn't complain was that he looked dazed and confused when the ref stepped in. i think it was once again hard to judge degale on this fight but he did what he had too, but he must sort out the weight problem sooner rather than later.
Let's not call him exceptional when he's doing exactly what he's meant to do to guys a couple of levels below.
They might aswell have let it carry on a bit longer, see if Dilks could at least make him work for his win, it's not like he was badly hurt like Sexton or Maccarenelli were. When a guy spends more time doing a stupid gladiator pose than fighting it's poor form.
