Didn't manage to see this. But, have to agree Degale looked pretty unconvincing. Switching stance every minute and dropping his gloves. Would rather have seen him work like Saunders did.
Give them a chance, I'd rather see them going the distance and getting rounds under their belts rather than knocking chums out in a few minutes. All of them tonight controlled the fight and were able to excercise their brains a bit. You learn nothing from just trying to knock a no hopers head off.
No one is saying they want to see them knock bums out. His style, attitude and performance was dog ****, simple. Whether u are learning or not u aint gona get anywhere dropping ur hands, slapping and switching every 2 secs. He hasn't shown any improvement to any aspect of his game since the last fight.
Let's put this into perspective. There have been threads and people on this forum that have said degale would beat Smith at the moment. On this showing he will never do it. I would not even put him in with Paul David at the moment. It is the second time in his 5 fights, that i have heard a commentator mention about hitting with the inside glove. Looks like britain has a new "slapper". I actually like him, and want to see him do well. But hitting once, and admiring your shot, whilst hanging your chin out in the air is **** poor, and any half decent smw will put him straight on his arse. I think that a loss this early on will do him no harm, ad show him that you can't show boat, or take your opponent for granted, and that you have to learn to ****ing punch properly
degale would struggle with anyone who throws back at him. Didn't show any great power last night, and proved that he still needs to learn how to ****ing punch.
What did Smith do in the first 6 rounds against Quigley? absolutely nothing, not to mention Quigley was robbed.
We aren't talking about Smith here. The reason i mentioned him earlier is that too many people on here are talking about degale challenging for domestic titles next year. on that eveidence from last night, he needs to be taught how to box and punch before he is even put back in a ****ing ring, let alone with someone like Smith who will hit him back hard, and who will work him on the inside. Quigley, Dodson, Anderson, David, Smith, these guys would all beast degale now and in 2 years time. By the way the only way Quigley won was if wrestling and holding is part of the rules
The holding took place in the latter stages, and both were tired. Smith talked a lot of **** before the fight, how he was going to knock out Quigley, but on fight night he did nothing.
oh my dear god, i have been drawn on this subject atsch Smith won, it was close, but he won. Going into the 2 final rounds it was even. Smith won the last two rounds, no argument. Anyway. back to degale. No chance at british level for another two years, he WAS dog ****
Yup, Degale just wants to pose and look good. He's been given the perfect vehicle from which to do that too. The Sky hype machine, where we'll all be told by Nicky Piper and Big Glenn that he's brilliant whilst knocking over bums. Safe in the knowledge it will be a long time before he's put to the test.
