With respect Archie,average fighters don't win gold medals.I think he's more paranoid than ego.Just doesn't like any kind of criticism,constructive or otherwise.Even from Woodhall.Plus he'd probably still be hyped from boxing.Maybe like you,I didn't like his personal baiting of Groves,but I can't separate them as boxers.Could still surprise us,but maybe needs to get a move on.
Massive holes in DeGales showboating defence eg shoulder roll and catching punches with his right hand coming up from his waist. He gets hit too often. A strong fighter like Froch walks through DeGales average punching power. Froch might be made to miss but when he gets to grips with DeGale he punches lumps out of him.
The best thing that ever happened to DeGale was losing to Groves. He went off trained hard and went about his business fairly quietly and efficiently. Last night though he reverted back to the loud mouth idiot from the pre groves days.
I was trying to figure out why he had reverted to that bull**** attitude from yesteryear. Then it dawned on me, desperation for publicity. The next time he gets beaten he will retire from boxing.
Like he said before the fight, he said he's going to start mouthing off again as he feels that seems to be the only way to get anywhere in boxing. He's obviously pissed off that he hasn't been as active as he'd like.
Bozic was ****ing awful. Impossible to read anything into that fight. Woodhall was right, DeGale was letting himself get tagged far too often trying to fight on the inside. His pathetically defensive replies are indicative of the sort of person he DeGale is. Having that **** McDonnell as his trainer doesn't help. He's a sycophantic waste of space.
I hoped the lad would learn from the Groves fight and tone down and be a bit more respectful. If anything it's blissful ignorance and start the car back up and continue on the same road. he fights the same way and not foxed his errors and cuffs his punches still. His mouth writes cheques he can't cash and I think Froch would take him to a dark place and ruin him as a fighter because his confidence wouldn't allow him to fail on his two biggest fights to date.
He's been quiet of late & not jumping about shouting his mouth, but as he said himself.. it's got him nowhere. When he was acting like that, he was getting a lot of attention etc. Like it or hate it, acting like that draws attention.
