How do you lot assess his performance? I thought he was tremendous and can Degale become a world champion?

He was tremendous, he will become a World Champion thats pretty obvious. Hope he gets the Froch fight because I think he'd beat him and it'd cement Degale as a the top star his skills deserve him to be.

I cant stand degale to be honest! But personality aside his performance was very good I think some ones give him a kick up the ass and made him realise he can be lazy settling for a points win he has to go out there and look the bizz and he did. Lets not get over excited gonzales was pretty average if seen a couple of his fights and expected that result and gonzales is certainly no froch!!

I do think his style would trouble froch but also from degales past performances he can be a bit lazy taking breather on the ropes and he likes to box at his own pace so id expect froch to take control and win on points.

Gonzales was ****, came over two minutes before the fight, and actually gave Degale enough trouble whilst the fight lasted. Don't see the new improved good boy at all.

I like DeGale, I felt he would become a world champ from day 1 but I have had my doubts over the last 18 months. His performance was great and it was against a guy who some even tipped to beat DeGale, I think James will go from strength to strength now.

I do believe after the last 18 months he was depressed and fighting down to the level he was matched with. Must be difficult fighting in front of 2k or 3k vs bad opponents, people accept that Froch couldnt get up for the first Groves fight and that was in front of 20k and on Sky Box Office. So they should probably give Degale a break for the bad situation he was in the last 2 years and the less than stellar performances.

He also claims he was fighting injured the last few years as well which might have played into it.

For me Degale beat Groves by a couple of rounds, he seems to just do enough to win, last night showed he has more gears to go through, def wins a title i think.

I like Degale but Froch would kill him. Degale sits on the ropes too much and we all know that Froch is at his most dangerous when the opponent is on the ropes.

    Froch TKO round 5.

He's a definite top 10 Super-middleweight though. I'd only put Ward, Froch, Groves and possibly Kessler in front of him.

This is the exact reason why Froch would stop Degale.. to prone to sitting on the ropes and he'd get stopped.

Nah definitely think Groves beats him for the third time should they meet again down the line.

He was amazing. Some of the combinations he threw and landed were incredible. He's fast with power and has a very very good arsenal.

He seems to have learned some humility over the past couple of years. Good luck to him hope he earns a lot of money.

I'd pick Froch to beat Degale atm as well. Too early I think, it was too early for Groves too although Degale's fought better comp than Groves (Froch aside and Johnson was a corpse) imo.

I actually think he's pretty good at fighting off the ropes, no Toney or Hopkins but he's not bad at it.

The thing with Degale is that he likes being in a fight, as a result he gets hit. He's not a defensively minded fighter. So I do personally think he fights according to the opponents level, some fighters are just like that.
