A cut up where his was won't be pounded by punches, so I think when he's ready to start training, he'll probably just let the cut continue to heal as he begins preparing for whomever. I don't think it'll delay anything, seeing as how they take time off after a fight, anyway.

    Just my opinion, of course.

If the WBC keeps trying to force Maskaev into the picture, he may retire.

    Not long.

It won't impact his plans to fight again.

I wonder if Vitali will fight Maskaev, if the WBC forces him to, or lose the title?

Before I thought he would retire, first, but after his last night saying he'll fight 2009 and into 2010, I think he may well suck it up and get Maskaev outta the way, if he has no choice. I think he wants a shot at the WBA title bad enough to waste a fight on Oleg, now.

    Just my opinion.

I think his pride may be too much.

Honestly if he can get a fight with Valuev, he may just vacate...skip a fight with Oleg, fight Valuev (or Chagaev) pick up the WBA strap and then come back to it. I don't see him wasting his time with someone like Oleg.

Vitali will probably be fighting in the late summer against Maskaev.

He looked REALLY old the other day. Fortunately, Maskaev is even older.

Vitaly doesnt seem to be that interested in defending his title against Maskaev though.
He stated several times after his encounter with Gomez that he wanted to fight Valuev next.
