A knockout is not merely set up from pure power...only Foreman, Shavers, and Jackson could hit like that.

To knock somebody out you have to break them down. How many Tyson fights did he have where he just walked in and landed one big punch? Very minimal. He almost always broke them down going to the body. Body, body, and more body. Punish that body and the head will fall. Hit him in the body and you see it hurts so hit him at least 20 more times to the body.

A trick is to puff some magic dragon first, it's a modern day steroid if you were to ask the UFC. Makes you strong as willie nelson (the singer, not the boxer)

Bodyshots... if a guy can take your best upstairs your not getting him out of there anytime soon ignoring the fact its sparring and u should not be looking to close the show if you rock your man. Sparring is all about trying out things working on weaknesses and perfecting new combinations or movements

So practise setting up shots to the body. If he loves a good 1 2 as most boxers do as its commonly a safeway to shoot from your guard and drive your man to the ropes earning that realestate in a fairly safe manner. Just simply time his right hand. Slip it and drop a right hand to the solar plexes. If you catch him stepping in you will most likely have him down or atleast dying for a break.

People get dropped in sparring all the time and theres nothing wrong with setting up a nice 1 or 2 shots during a combination to hurt your man. But if you dont drop him and you see him back off visibly hurt dnt pressure him

    1. Its a dog move especially for beginners and other better fighters in the gym will make you pay for it (your trainer will want them to aswell)

    2. If your in the position then you can pretty much call it a KD regardless

Why are you trying to knock someone out in sparring?

Throw a body shot to the liver area. It can really debilitate a man. Regardless it sounds like you are featherfisted.

I prefer the bolo uppercut right under the sternum, drives their stomach up into their lungs, you cant breath and want to throw up at the same time

I got hit with it before by a guy i should have handled easily, it was embarrassing

Why are you going into sparring with the aim of knocking someone out? Wrong mindset completely.

In general sparring you shouldn't be trying to knock your partner out. So quit being a gym bully.
To answer your qu, some ppl are harder then others to drop, it's easier to knock someone out if they don't see the shot comming, throwing a punch capable of shifting the brain helps (I find hooks the most effective) and most importantly your punches should start from your feet. In other words you have to set up the right shot and not throw girly 17 yr old gym bully arm punches.
Don't go trying to knock out ppl at your gym, you'll loose a lot of respect and I suspect a senior might teach you a lesson if u keep that up.

You need to learn what sparring is about. Simples.

Try stuffing a horseshoe in the glove. That always used to work for me back in the day.

You can get them from eBay and elsewhere on the internet.
