I think Holmes jab was a more versatile jab then Listons was and he could use it more ways as well.
Holmes jab was such a weapon that even in his forties and fifties it was a problem for other boxers.
Listons might have had a harder jab consistently then Holmes but overall I think Holmes had the faster better jab.

Define "more damaging weapon" might be the key.

If you mean power there's little doubt Liston's jab was more powerful/harder than the others. Film and testimony give us plenty to look at but on top of this we know that Liston was simply a harder puncher than either of them and notably so. He carried far more power in the hook and right hand and it's reasonably logical that his jab would very likely be harder as well.

If you are talking better or a whole plethora of other things it's a different story.

Holmes relied on and utilized his jab more than Liston. As a matter of fact virtually his whole game was based around and emanated from the jab. Due to this it would be fair to opine he had a better jab. Liston had a lot more power and was usually looking to impose and utilize that aspect. He liked to knock people out where as Larry was more patient and content mostly to outbox people until the time was right.

I don't think those two jabbed as hard due to the other things i put forth - testimony and film. I'd accept there was a lesser gap between jabs to other power punches tho, absolutely. Liston was just plain heavy handed tho at the end of the day.

I'd put Liston and Foreman into the huge power category, Holmes and Douglas in the middle ground and Ali toward the faster not quite as hard end.

Pinklon Thomas would be close to the Liston/Foreman bracket.

Note - Be aware that Cooney's jab was known as having HUGE power for a jab. His hook and jab shared a similar space it's just that his right hand was extremely weak comparatively and if someone puts forth Norton as a right hand example, well, that's just how bad Norton was at that stage.

Also Tyson's jab was known as having battering ram power, almost like a straight left. Louis' was known as sporting loads of power as well.

No reason at all. Might be both possessed better ones. Listons mostly myth over substance. Splattering Patterson a feat Sugar Ingo was capable of doesn’t make you a “Monster” neither does chasing Machen around all night or stopping Tea Cup Williams and Zora Folley. Got to wonder how many of those boys would be HWs now besides China chin. I’d pick Povetkin for instance to mince them all up no problemo.

To say undeniably Liston hit harder is absurd nothing is absolute. Are testimony’s of Buster hitting harder then Lennox? and stopping an actual iron chinned fighter not enough? Well to at least call it debatable that he had “far” more power? lol.

Earnie Shavers described Holmes's jab as oddly powerful, feeling more like a right, and if anyone would know a thing or two about getting hit by Larry's jab, it would be Earnie.

It baffles me that clowns like this are free to continue posting even after being permabanned, but excellent posters such as Pugguy (one of the best I’ve ever seen here) are permabanned after one “offense”.

Over a few tame words and some boxing opinions? You need to grow a pair.

It's not true that you were already permabanned as a previous alt?
