Dempsey Willard - Trivia Question

I am hoping that some of the trivia gurus will solve this one in a matter of minutes, because to be honest i dont know the answer.

It seems a simple question, but how long was the Dempsey Willard bout scheduled for?

I dont think i have ever seen it mentioned anywhere. We always talk of it ending early but never how long it was scheduled for. Does anyone know?

If the ticket promo amount showing Willard to receive $100,000, then that amount is about $11,500,000 today assuming 5% annual increase over 97 years in simple interest calculation.

Would you take $11,500,000 today, to let the 1919 version of Jack Dempsey beat the chite out of you? (Maybe PPV might get you some more $$$ too.

Not to be a knob but that isn't simple interest. Simple interest is when you take the percentage of the original amount and multiply it by the number of years.

What you describe is compound interest over a geometric mean of 5%.

 

OK....what ever you want to call $100K (1.05) to 97th power. Still a bunch of money.
