Hello all, First post here, What are people's thoughts on the current SM division?Personally I think it's our strongest by far, with the obvious Froch, Groves & Degale. But it's further down that I think the future's bright.. Obviously P Smith has his shot regardless of whether warranted etc, but certainly the likes of C Smith & Fielding look to be making waves on the Euro scene with the respective 'International' titles. Also with correct match making I still see Euro / Commonwealth for the likes of Buglioni & Blackledge. I think this is a division where the UK will have at least one genuine World champ for a long time to come.Thoughts?
To be honest britain never really has a great deal of depth in any division. WE have decent dividion with 2-4 good fighters but that usually about it. SM is however very strong, with a number of boxers that could reach top level. Lightweight is very deep too but i dont think the quality is anywhere near as good as SM
The LW division is competitive, it isn't strong. There isn't a single world class boxer in the LW division in the UK as it stands.
true but you have a some fighters that are at contender level, and it is strong in comparison to our other divisions. We are talking about British divisions not worldwide
SMW division here is hot right now - but we've always been blessed with decent talent at the weight. Froch's on his way out over the next 12-18 months tops, so hopefully we see a few more make the step up, put on impressive performances and also deliver big domestic fights.
When haven't we had good depth a SMW. It's amazing how we produce so many quality fighters at one weight.
