this is exactly right and anyone who does not know the struggles of mma trying to reach main stream does not know the sport very well. this could really hurt the chances of future prime time events on cbs which is what can make mma more main stream.

I said I don't condone what the Diaz brothers did but I'm also not one to pass judgment on someone I don't know personally. Everyone is really blowing this out of proportion. These thing happen. The best thing to do is treat it like any other sport and not buy in to the nonsense that the sports image has somehow been compromised. The public has a short attention span and it's not exactly hard to discredit MMA anyway. Its the closest thing to real fighting there is besides Youtube. At the end of the day, were the Diaz brothers the first guys to start a brawl in MMA? No. Will they be the last guys? Maybe for a while. Will CBS still show the next Fedor fight regardless of what happened? Yes.
i think any mma or boxing fan will understand this stuff happens the problem is trying to draw in new fans who may look at it and say something like "this is stupid what a bunch of barbarians". Like another poster already mentioned mma has always been under a microscope and this does not help. There will hopefully be some suspensions or bans for the idiots involved.

I'm an ethical subjectivist. I believe theres no such thing as good or evil; rather morality was invented to make society possible. I think having good morals is important but since I know they are subjective, I can't bring myself to judge people seriously. Osama's responsible for some pretty horrible things but how can I judge him when if I was born in Afghanistan he'd probably be my idol?
