Floyd didnt have the tools to really copy RJJs style. Its conceivable that no one did. Jones could throw insane combinations. Ever since Floyd went above 135,hes throw a lot of single shots, maybe 2-3 in a row at best. Jones could throw a 10 punch combination

wat. Floyd is a very conventional boxer. Its Floyds mastery of the ABCs of boxing that has made him #1. If you're training someone to be a boxer you show him tapes of Mayweather. You don't teach him to imitate RJJ. A more valid comparison is RJJ/Hamed/Pacquiao since they all make blatant technical errors but get away with it due to exceptional reflexes and athleticism. Mayweather isn't getting knocked out like RJJ/Pacquiao any time soon.
Who was "talented" enough to pull off RJJ's moves? Those are God given reflexes, you can't train to do what RJJ did. On topic, I don't think there's any boxer out there that didn't idolize RJJ immediately after watching one of his performances. There's a reason scrubs like Benn, Eubank and Collins stayed in England while Calzaghe fought his relatives in Wales when RJJ was around.
I don't think who you like necessarily influeces your fighting style. Roy Jones Jr favorite fighters were guys like Morales and Chavez
In his prime, Roy's athleticism was unmatched... it negated the deficiencies he had in his fundamental boxing abilities...it's a good thing Floyd didn't adopt Roy's style because Floyd has a better defense than Roy ever did technically... Roy's reflexes kept him out of the way of big shots in his prime...when his reflexes declined he started getting KTFO
I remember him saying he really liked Aaron Pryor and also saying something negative about Roy when someone's asked him if he thought he was better than him. Also they don't fight alike really, they were both just both gifted athletically, Roy was on another level with his ability but lacked sound foundamentals which Mayweather has in abundance.
