Does anyone on here think he is anything above average? He is shocking, IMHO. I can't think of a thing he does well. Poor balance, shot selection, wild... Just talks a good game and is very game (apart from not wanting Ortiz, but that's another matter). The amount of times he was SQUARE ON and all over the place for a Boxer at that level against Del Boy was obscene. He's p*ss poor.
I personally think the recent Lucas Browne and Jo Parker wins are ample evidence that Whyte is way above average. I agree he doesnt look particularly special, but he is getting the results that count, and that is what matters mate. Also look at his increased dedication to the sport since the AJ fight and his increased skill level. I do think that although he is too easy to hit, and gets hit, that his chin holds out for another 2-3 fights for him to be a real threat. He has the kind of chin that gets worse with age because he gets hit so much.
I used to have a twitter clip of Whyte against Helenius where his own left hook literally made him spin 360 after missing wildly. He is Improving but Chisora whooped his ass first time round and was denied a legit KD in the final round. People here mock Wilder for being technically poor. Whyte is genuinely just as bad if not worse when it comes to technique and skill.
I think both have been a bit flattered by their recent result(s). However it should be a good fight because neither is good enough to keep the other off for even a round or two.
Heavyweights are a breed apart increasingly rare to see one with top notch skills ! Whyte is particularly novice looking , yes he is tough and his record up until now would indicate he must be doing something right. Would I hold him up as an example of classical a boxing stylist? Not in a million years .
He loses balance too much, kinda like Wilder but even worse in that aspect. But I mean, he put Parker down so he's definitely got something. No ordinary heavyweight puts Parker down like he did. That punch was as impressive as the Klitschko punch against AJ. He's got serious power in those hands cause I don't think Wilder would have put Parker down. And he proved he's solid top 10 by schooling Lucas Browne. It's not an impressive win, but what it showed is that Whyte can box to a decent standard and most importantly avoid big shots. And if he can rough up AJ just a slight bit (Which he did do) then he can rough up any of the top heavyweights big time. Arguably he's the only one of the smaller heavyweights who could cause problems for Usyk, just by being dirty. He's got to be in the majority of heavyweight top 5's so he's obviously doing something right.
Yeah Whyte is average and his position is more of a reflection of how poor the division is, but heavyweight boxing has been pretty poor for decades now.

Bro come on... the Parker knock down was due to a blatant head clash. Did you not see the fight? Higgins lobbied with the WBC after IIRC trying to get the result turned over. Parker was probably concussed after that yet still won the second half of that fight and put Whyte down legitimately. I repeat, Whyte did not KD Parker. It was an obvious head clash and Parker is just to pusillanimous to complain about it during a fight. Kevin Barry should have been going insane when the ref started his count but he’s inept.

Don't know about that. He did look off his game and seemed to drift in and out of the fight. How the ref didn't call that 1st one a clash of heads I'll never know. There was a replay showing him looming directly at it. Credit to Whyte for his rough house tactics though as that certainly won him the fight.
He’s aesthetically not great to watch but makes up for it in other areas. He’s tough as nails. Which can take you a long way in boxing.
Whyte has pretty average skills, he gets by through brute strength and he's pretty tough. I just can't believe hearn is making people pay to watch him.
