After Skelton lost the EBU title seems to be vacant, and a a bout between Dimitrenko and Povetkin as a contender and No.1 in list appointed by a federation.
Povetkin's promoter said the both sides are interested in this fight, and the possible winner would be an official contender by IBF and WBO for a fight with Wlad.
    Any predictions?
Povetkins resume is more impressive, however...

Risky fight for Povetkin, especially since he's already the mandatory challenger for the IBF belt, but i'd pick him to beat Dimitrenko.

Not that risky, and in terms of style and physicality, there's no better preparation Povetkin could get for fighting Wlad than fighting Dimitrenko first.

That said, Povetkin should dominate. He's in another class from Dimitrenko.

Yes!!! Rogan should fight for the title and he earned it the hard way...But he should not go after the 2 Klithcko's...Like his chances against Chagaev or Valuev...Skelton gave a good acount of himself against Chagaev in his title shot and Rogan did something even Chagaev could'nt do by dropping Skelton on his butt in the 11th...:deal

so you think three months ago Povetkin couldn't be considered as a worthy enough opponent for champion?
about Dimitrenko I think he's not ready, especially because he also doesn't think so himself (though i could be a good fight).
But Povetkin was aiming WK for a long time.

as for Povetkin-Dimitrenko, I've voted for KO by Dimitrenko:yep

I'm going with Povetkin here. Dimitrenko has every physical advantage, and Povetkin isn't special, but... Dimitrenko just seems 'stuck' at the level he is now - which is that of a prospect. Povetkin is a contender, I feel he can go further than Dimitrenko.

Easy fight for Povetkin and one Dimitrenko would never take. He would crumble pretty quickly because he can't handle constant pressure well from fighters half as good as Povetkin.

Good fight. I hope it gets made.

I voted "can't decide" because their styles vary so much & both apply their styles well.

I always considered Dimentrenko to be like a "Wlad-Lite" since he's not nearly as dominant yet he does many of the same things well enough.

Povetkin has impressed me with his workrate, overall skills & combinations. Decent speed too...............

The site with news about fights has gotten a statement from Dimitrenko:

[FONT=Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]WBO #1 ranked heavyweight Alexander Dimitrenko (29-0, 19 KOs) could fight against official challenger IBF heavyweight world title Alexander Povetkin (16-0, 12 KOs) for the vacant EBU (European) heavyweight title. On April 4th, Povetkin is set to meet with Jason Estrada (15-1, 3 KOs) at the Burg-Waechter Castello, on Duesseldorf, Germany. The camps have until April 21st to discuss details of the fight.

“I know Povetkin from when we were in amateur boxing. We often acted as sparring partners in the ring. For me it will be a very interesting and important fight because the winner will receive a fight against WBO/IBF/IBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko. For me, that is my number one goal. I am ready to fight with the best fighters and to win.”

Povetkin via close but clear decision in a decent scrap.

    Dimitrenko is very underated.

Povetkin should beat Dimitrenko who would serve as a good style for Povetkin to prepare for Wlad. Dimitrenko is an ok fighter but Povetkin is a legit contender and the difference in class would show. Since the Wlad-Povetkin cancellation Povetkin is doing the right thing and not sitting on his shot. He is actully fighting and improving which can only help him against Wlad. Whoever wins a Povetkin-Dimitrenko bout will have positioned himself as a very worthy challenger.
