I haven't watched all hi fights but I remember Quartey hurt him in the 6th round when he knocked De La Hoya down. I believe Mosley hurt him in both of their fights Anyway yeah he does have a very good chin but he also have very good defense. He doesn't get hit with hard clean punches all that much.
Vargas appeared to have him shaken on the ropes when he opened up on him, but I dont think he ever really hurt him
Well yeah, every boxer gets stunned from good clean punches. Even Iron chinned Morales got stunned sometimes in his prime. Librado Andrade, an iron chinned behemoth got dropped from a great left hook in his last fight.
The Campanella fight was a defense of the WBO Super-feather strap and like in the Valenzuela fight, he was dropped by single shots before he knocked them out. I wouldn't say he's a good defensive fighter because he used to block punches and make his offense keep his opponents busy on their defense but he has intelligence and a big punch himself. That was until he came across Molina and was reluctant to attack, missed a hell of a lot against Pernell and was knocked down outa balance, and with Ike Quartey, he spent most of effective time faking an attack on his toes and threw much less punches than before... Landed again on the seat of his trunks in the sixth and after having caught Quartey himself with the trademark left hook... Let's not forget the Trinidad loss ( 9th to 12th rounds on the move), the enormous quantity of power punches he ate from Mosley both times around and the jabs from Sturm and the knockout loss to Bernard... I personally feel he was almost out against Vargas in between the ropes and in the first and that he was hit too many times, despite not being seriously hurt with Mayweather last time around 2... Those are too many times in my book and he faced a reasonable but not exceptional number of quality opponents in Molina, Ruelas, Leija, JCC twice, Sweet Pea, Gatti, Carr, Trinidad, Mosley, Vargas, Sturm, Hopkins and Mayweather. And Bob Arum had a lot to do with the shots he had, the opponents he fought and who did not present serious threat to his rise.
Yes, I hate DLH so much that I bought his entire DVD career collection... He has a good chin, fighting heart and a beautiful smile. Oh, I almost forgot, he also has the Ring Magazine and plenty of fighters such as former opponents Bernard and Shane.
Iron chin, but can be hurt to the body. It would be good to see who people think have the best chins, P4P. I wonder where Mayweather would be, seen as though nobody has hit him consistently throughout a fight!
