Cotto doesn't have a good chin. he went 12 rounds with mosley the man that after his lost to cotto has k.oed mayorga and margarito he went 11 with margarito and who knows if margo had the same type of hand wraps with cotto the same way he had with his encounter with mosley. but just curious to find out if people had put any thoughts about his chin. remember margo didnt tko'd him with punches it was just the exhaustion that tko'd cotto
Hes got a good chin, not great. Mosley didnt throw bombs at him like he did against a much easier and predictable target in Margo. The shots Mosley was hitting Tony was borderline scary, its like hitting a ****in heavy bag because Margos to slow and Mosley didnt fear getting caught, with Cotto he was more cautious
Mosley hit Cotto with a right hand in the 3rd that buckled Cotto from head to toe clearly hurting him. Mosley decided to back up with a sneer on his face and let Cotto recover instead of following up on it for whatever reason. If Mosley had kept pressing the way he did in the Margarito fight, and the 12th round of the Mayorga fight, I doubt very seriously Cotto would have made it out of that early round. The Cotto experience made Shane very angry with himself - according to Shane. I think people are still looking for chicken dances. I don't expect to see Cotto doing that much in the future. He still gets hurt by single shots at any given time, it just seems now that Cotto has been able to conceal the damage better, but he still temporarily numbs out when he gets nailed. cotto has a good chin, he just has a poor defence and he adapts very badly. that's not unusual for guy who come through the ranks KO'ing guys. tszyu and tito and also really good examples of come forward punchers who had poor defences but solid chins.
