That amature boxing series that was on channel 5, where they had boxers from the north vs south fight each other and the best one went to u.s.a. to train??

it would be good if they did that again but this time publicized it more to get a wider audience.

Plus if they just sent a mail shot to all the boxing gyms they could come up with quiet a few good fighters and make it interesting.

Remember the show, think it was a guy from liverpool that won it and got a deal with Warren.

It was a good set up with guys like Richie Woodhall, Danny Williams, Audley Harrison and Amir Kahn all offering the guys advice.

My mate went down to Liverpool to take part in Boxing Academy, could have been that... he never made it past the final 30 though, unfortunately.

Thats what it was called "Boxing Academy" they put the guys through a strict fitness test before they started. They even took the finalists to Kerry Hayes for nutrition advice.

I remember that. An amateur contender would be good. I liked that show. Bring it back I say.

I remember Warren and many others on it. Woodhall was on it and he was deadly serious with his training. He didn't mess about. I remember he took the guy on the pads and told him always to keep eye contact.

It was a good show but the live final turned out to be a bit of farce with that no mark presenter rushing Marvin Hagler at the end due to time constraints.

    It was good that.

Dont think it was a scouser that won it, but I remember Joey Munroe from Liverpool being touted on it. That's the one that Warren said was cut out for the pro's. Not sure what he's doing these days.

Wasnt it the guy from London with the blonde perm that won it? He was a joiner or a welder or something?

I remember Haye being on it too, with his big afro, dishing out the advice on footwork.

The scouser did win it. The cockney lad got throughly outboxed by him as I remember (came across a gracious loser and nice lad though.)

Fair enough, I've slept since then so I could very well be wrong!

From memory they were all nice lads in that show.

Just remembered there was a lad on it think he was called Marvin who was a christian rapper. He really struggled with the fitness training and i think he broke his nose in sparring.

Amir Kahn did a similar type show with lads with behaviour problems where he thought boxing could teach them right from wrong type of thing, that was also quite good.
