Castillo is the only fight that i remember but he never rematch other opponents that he had a close decision fight with? Why is that? Is he being cautious that hes opponents might finally figure out his style? Sorry for the poor grammar feel free to correct me. Thanks guys.

Who else deserved a rematch? The fans responded pretty negatively when he mentioned rematches with Hoya, Hatton and Ortiz.

True.. They even said that he will cherry pick Cotto if he beat Martinez.. Nobody was close to beating him but those two...

The closest two fights besides the Castillo fight were DLH and Cotto. He almost had a rematch with DLH but chose to go into "retirement" instead. If Cotto beats Martinez there's a very good chance that rematch happens. No other Floyd fights have really been close enough to warrant any real rematch thoughts.

I'll hate on Floyd for his choices of opposition in general, but I don't have much interest in a Cotto rematch because I think the outcome would be the same. Cotto would be competitive and take some rounds on workrate but Floyd wins a clear decision. It might have been a different story when Cotto was in his prime(which as per usual Floyd didn't want the fight then) but that time has passed. So I'd just as soon he take on someone else rather than pursue a rematch with Cotto, regardless of the outcome of the Martinez vs Cotto fight. And I don't think Floyd has a fear of fighters picking up on his style via rematch.

those fights being 'close' had everything to do with Floyd dipping his feet in at 154. fighting a prime cotto would have seen Floyd fighting at a weight he is more comfortable at

If Cotto beats Martinez then a Mayweather-Cotto II fight for the MW championship would be a huge fight.
