Donaire is a very fundamentally unsound boxer in the same vain as RJJ. Donaire is an exceptional athlete but I feel will be exposed tonight by Nishokia. People seem to forget his fight with Vasquez which was really a razor thin fight IMO.

As Donaire has moved up in weight he has lost some his advantages over the smaller fighters. If Nishokia isn't rusty or got old, I see him giving Donaire all types of problems.

    Amen.
Ring rust could well be a problem tonight though for Nishioka.
The more i think about this fight, the more likely the Nishioka win seems to me.

There's a difference between not knowing the rules, and knowing the rules & knowing when to break them. Both RJJ and Donaire were fundamentally sound and used apparent flaws to their advantage.

Donaire has been neglecting to focus in his skills and versatility, but I think he'll go back to being a more balanced, responsible boxer tonight and beat Nishioka impressively.

The man just needs to focus on throwing more than that damn left hook...he should use his talents and mix his punches up and that will set up his power punchers..he himself is his biggest downfall

If Donaire has started working on attacking at angles, instead of straight forward, he should have a sure victory. His last few fights has shown his lack of versatility when an opponent anticipates the classic "puncher attack" straight forward.

He also needs to attack the body much more often, he gets locked into head-hunting and that gets very predictable

**** thread. Why would Donaire be "exposed" ?

He'd have been exposed already if that were the case. Maybe give Nishioka props if he were to win instead?

I'm sitting on the fence with this one. I don't quite know what to make of Donaire anymore. I suspect he will win, but I also have nagging doubts along the same lines as what you are saying.

He's going to look good tonight, he's just too fast for Nishioka and unlike a lot of Donaire opponents Nishioka will try to throw down with him to win as opposed to go into survival mode. The OP is correct in that Donaire's style is based a lot on his athleticism, but he does possess very good counterpunching instincts as well and he does a good job setting traps for his opponents.

Donaire hasn't been exposed because he has been feasting on smaller fighters. Look at his record at 122 pounds, he hasn't scored a KO. Donaire also stuggled with Vasquez, I think when I was scoring it I had Donaire winning by 1 point.

I'm not saying Donaire sucks but I don't think he has P4P level talent. Again he is a great athlete but doesn't have great fundamentals. He is not what I'd classify as a technician (like JMM, Hopkins, or Mayweather). Donaire might beat Nishi but I think if he moves to FW, he will get badly beaten by a technical fighter like Mikey Garcia.

Not having a KO isn't the problem if he still dominates but he's been struggling lately which is the problem. To the point I don't watch em no more. I love Nishi which is the only reason I'll watch tonight but I hope both men bring a good fight. Nishi never disappointed me on that part but it takes two to scrap.

Well let's see if Donaire proves me wrong. I've been wrong before about fighters. Again I believe Mikey Garcia would thoroughly outbox and maybe even stop Donaire if they fight.

Everybody is overrated by fanboys and underrated by haters

Donaire has the tools to ice Nishioka who is a great boxer but is way past his best days

your hating on donaire if you think that vasquez came within even 1 round of donaire. he might have won at most 2 rounds.
