Well they are clearly doing due dilligience. The Chinese market is extremely diverse and there's fund managers all over the world. I wouldnt expect anyone to know all of them. Either way PUJI are doing their homework first. One thing we do know is if PUJI pulls out its good night DREAM. Im not entirely sure how this will affect FEG though as there doesnt seem to be much info on the final 16 for Seoul.
I am not surprised by this. The fight scene in Japan has been on a downturn for years and you are not going to see those Pride days again. Pro-wrestling in Japan was huge but it has not been able to replicate its popularity pre 2000. MMA had its boom period and like pro-wrestling there is going to be huge downscaling and while MMA in Japan will still exist it will be at a much smaller level.
God damn it. I'd honestly rather see all the American promotions (UFC, Strikeforce, Bellator and WEC - right down to the nickel-and-dime operations like MFC, XFC, and KOTC) all fold than lose DREAM and K1. :-(
Thats absurd, those fighters will still get to fight. Sengoku is still alive, Shooto will never die, and another org could step into the fold. Not to mention Japenese fighters fighting abroad. But no, let's shut down the biggest pipeline of MMA fighters in the world.
It's not absurd for someone who at the end of the day prefers K1 to MMA anyway. I realize it's a minority opinion (as is preferring DREAM out of all the major MMA organizations).
That sucks for a fighter to go through training camp preform and not get paid. When fighters know this they will be hesitant to fight for them for sure knowing they might get stiffed.
I dont know which mma org I like the best, but I much prefer kickboxing & muay thai to MMA (I am a fan of striking arts > grappling arts) Its Showtime will still exist and probably get a boost if k1 falls slamm events can be great "thialand vs holland" their are plenty of smaller orgs running shows year round that will pick up the peices of k1 if it breaks apart. will anything replace k1..... no probably not. I think they might be like pride in that regard, not that pride was perfect we know they were not- just like K1 is not perfect, but no other org can match their events and the excitement you felt when watching their best compete - ahhh the golden years. K1 is very popular, it is hard to accept it will meet its end so soon, dream on the other hand........... well who knows for sure.
Very disappointing if FEG does go under and these are ominous signs. I would miss K-1 so much more than DREAM though. K-1 is the premier kickboxing org in the world and it would be huge for kickboxing if it goes under. K-1 seems to be faring much better than DREAM though, with both the MAX and WGP's going ahead this year. As for DREAM, it would be a shame but ultimately in the grand scheme of things in MMA doesn't mean as much. Probably just a downscaling of MMA in Japan.
