Mark has been in camp with BJS for last few months and Dubois had been in the UK working with Jimmy Tibbs and Steven Andrews. I didn’t see this coming, but that said after speaking to Steve I had got the impression things weren’t going quite to plan.
Has Mark been with him the last few days? Was it just a case of them not clicking? Seems mad when they are close to a tricky fight but hopefully it all works put for Dubois.
I know Mark was back with him yesterday at Newlands Gym but couldn’t possibly speculate what’s gone on. When asked about the Dinu fight in a recent interview, Mark did say that there were still a couple of things to sort out with Dubois.
It will be a bit awkward in the gym considering Fowler said Dubois quit and ridiculed him after his defeat to Joyce.
To be Frank there are not many in boxing who can hold their head high concerning comments made about his loss to Joyce. It was an absolute disgrace what was said about Daniel compared to the complete cover up over BJS. The galling thing is that Daniel actually fought on with the injury and fought to win. Billie ran away and quit at the first opportunity when he got his injury. I want to see Dubois fight again and be a success after what happened to him.
He said on Instagram last week that he never said Dubois quit and that after seeing the documents about how Dubois had broken his orbital bone and the extent of the eye injury he rectified his comments. Walking contradiction for sure.
He might want it but let's be realistic...is he going to get it. It's very hard to get 1 on 1 time with a head coach when he has a stable of championship fighters, which Shane has. There will come some point in one of the fighters camps that they don't get the optimal time with their coach and they have to make a compromise.
