I see quite a few see Pryor as beating Chavez how about this match. Apparently this fight was proposed and Pryor was to be paid 750,000 for the fight for whatever reason never happened but......what if it had?.
I imagine Duran beating Pryor. They would end up close often times and Duran's superior in fighting skills and defense would win the day here. That and Duran's balance and footwork blow Pryor's straight out of the water. I believe he could consistently capitalize and take advantage of an off balance Pryor dropping him and staggering him throughout the fight.
Love both, but Duran would have beaten Pryor. Savage war, but Duran would have been too much for Pryor in the end, and I think the Hawk is stopped circa 12 or 13. Both of them beat Chavez.
As already mentioned Duran had better balance and was much better defensively. He could box Pryor and make him pay for his mistakes. Roberto was the better puncher as well.
Aarons workrate was obviously better than Duran's, and he might have had a slight advantage in handspeed but Roberto was better in everything else. I see a late round stoppage here.
Duran was better than Pryor but the huge x factor is that neither of them ever had to deal with an opponent remotely like the other. How would Duran react to Pryor's speed and workrate? How would Pryor react to Duran mauling and roughing him up on the inside?
I always thought Aaron had very good hand speed and might have had a slight edge in that aspect as Roberto had very good hand speed as well. I could be wrong but that's just the way I see it.
Hard to imagine the man who beat a prime ray Leonard at 144 losing to a super lightweight, but I suppose it's possible.. I just can't imagine prior pulling it off for as great as he was.
