thank you. i have already watched duran before...

but yeah, judging from that vids, he absolutely would have starched margarito... that's for sure

point is, there is so much myth attached to past fighters that an unbiased evaluation is impossible.

let me ask you a question: is there a current fighter who you would favor against a prime duran?

From 147 and below? Are you joking? Not a chance in hell. Honestly, there are absolutely none who stand a chance. That is not bias, that is called knowledge and sense of sight.

He obviously doesn't appreciate how good Duran really was. To less educated people he seems a crude brawler, but in fact he was a great defensive fighter with awesome timing, speed, power and footwork.

In his prime at lightweight and early days at welterweight he was an absoloute monster, he was defintaely not primitive like you are suggesting.

Let me ask you this: How many current fighters are top 20 all-time greats in any reasonable persons book?

    None.

Wrong. I am not suggesting that he was a crude brawler. I am suggesting that for instance Cotto could be described the same way (awesome timing, speed, etc.), and there is no fecking way in hell you could tell for sure that someone who was in his prime 30 years ago would beat every top fighter today or just someone like margarito for that matter.

Yeah, you can. It's called watching them fight. It's actually pretty damn easy, are you just that thick?

Cotto has a lesser chin, and is not as rough, relentless, skilled on the inside, crafty, etc. as Duran.

That's completely irrelevant. All-time greats are called that because of their achievements in their respective eras, not because of some prophetic knowledge of how they would have fared in any other era.

That's true, at least for my criteria.

It's not completely irrelevant at all, when put into the context of this thread. What the hell do you really think is so different about Duran's era and this one? The fact you can buy whey in a tin? :patsch

It doesn't sound like you have ever seen Duran, nor have any knowledge of the era, nor the ability to analyse styles and classes of fighter and pick an outcome
