Dutch boxing scene?

I'm just wondering where it stands historically and as of now?

 

Kick-Boxing is much bigger in The Netherlands.

“Dutch style” Kick-Boxing does have a heavy emphasis on Boxing though.

 

Virtually non-existent, there’s been 1 Dutch world boxing champion in history. Regilio Tuur

 

I believe Raymond Joval held the IBO Middleweight title.

Beb van Klaveren won Olympic gold Like a 100 years ago.

 

How is it in Denmark and sweden?

 

Nieky Holzken gave it a decent go in boxing. He earned a lot of respect after the Smith fight which he had taken on very short notice.

 

The only Dutch HW I've ever heard of is Der Veer. At 175 there was Smulders he was pretty good.

Belgiums done better I think.

 

That’s right now you mention it. Tyrone Spong did pretty good as well. Both K1 guys.

 

Richel Hersisia was also a Dutch Heavyweight. And at Cruiserweight there was Diego Poeder.

 

The Dutch like to kick you in the head as well as punch your face, for some reason.

 

We had some succes in certain fighting categories; Aerts, Verhoeven, Bonjasky, Overeem. You could even argue Badr Hari for a bit.

 

The thais were really struggling with dutch kickboxers for awhile because the dutch had superior boxing and heavy hands, it forced the thais to start taking their boxing skills more seriously and do more boxing drills.
