    anyone here got knowledge of him or any thoughts on him ??

    i am asking as i recently read an article wrote by rick farris on him....it's a good article, but he does seem to give an excuse for a lot of hawkins losses, he was obviously close to him and i am wondering if a bit bias towards him {as a boy he trained looking at hawkins}

    Good read. I love coming across articles like that; giving oft-forgotten contenders their time in the limelight.

    Guys, Rick Farris is one of my best buds. He has a real passion for the sport and most of all, the fighters. I'm not surprised that passion bleeds over into his writing. Although I've never seen Hawkins in action, I'm comfortable taking Rick's word on him. Rick is one of the few guys on this planet who has sparred with Ruben Olivares, Bobby Chacon, Rafael Herrera, Roberto Duran and gone nose-ro-nose during a training confronatation with Mantequilla Napoles. I'll take his word. Perhaps I can coax him over here to elaborate on his views on Hawkins.

    i'd like that....i've read a few of his articles and yes, would love to converse with him.
    i have seen photos of him with henry armstrong and read how he, as a boy, watched 50 year old henry in the gym...speaking to somebody with first hand knowledge of that and memories like those would be most good to say the least.
