Commonwealth games gold medalist at 75kgs from Dungiven in Derry is going pro on the Murray-Rees undercard , looks to have a good pro style and hopefully gets moved on fast as he is 28 I think . Here he is in the World Series of Boxing - [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vHVomiEbHdY[/ame]
A good fighter is O'Kane. If he is 28, they do need to move him along pretty sharpish. A solid step up with each additional fight. No time for 15 sidewards steps
That World Series of Boxing could be deadly in years to come for getting guys ready for turning professional.
One of a good few Irish lads in the commonwealth games I thought looked more made for the pros. Hopefully a few follow him into them.
were goin to be spoiled when all the riish lads turnover nireland alone i cant wait for mick conlon p barnes p galleger looks very exciting tommy mccarthy s ward r burnett then all the lads from the republic
Couldn't remember his name he looked great in the commonwealth games. Was expecting him to go over soon after.
as Tony Mush said in the Irish thread, O Kane should almost jump straight into 8 rounders after the experience of the 5 rounders in the WSB.
I thought once the lads signed up to the WSB they were tied up to them for 3 years in the first place. I would guess after the games a number of the Irish lads who took part in the WSB may well turn pro. Looking at it if John Joe Nevin wins Gold in London I would guess there will be a lot of promotors out there looking to sign him up. I think out of the lot of that team John Joe Joyce is best placed out of the lot of them at the moment in my opinion so there will be a decent number turning pro. The talent in the boxing here will only get stronger in years to come. What a shame that a team wasnt based here.
He looked good in that video. No reason to **** him in with absolute bums. He was fighting top class opposition in the WSB.
