I disagree, some of the female boxers are very talented and just as tough and skilled as the men. I was very sceptical when women’s boxing became more popular. It’s been there a while, but not really well known outside of the hardcore fans. Jane Couch and Christy Martin spring to mind. There eras were many, many years ago. Sorry Jane, if you read this.
There’s definitely a place for women’s boxing, and the quality is improving all the time. I am a fan now, I wasn’t to begin with as I thought it was going to be a box ticking exercise and just couldn’t see them replicating the Jane Couch or Christy Martin type of grit and dedication. How wrong I was. It will only get better too. The bar keeps getting raised.

Mikaela Mayer will stink the joint out on Saturday and kill dead any atmosphere.

Need a double dose of Sweet Caroline to get going again.

I respectfully disagree. There's no lack of effort and increasing levels of technical ability, but at elite performance, women are unlikely to reach the physicality and aggression shown by males. I know it's not quite the same thing but tennis has long shown that a combination of power and endurance, totally sets men apart from women; there is zero sign of the gap closing and never will be. Boxing is the same.

That doesn't mean women's boxing can't be entertaining and I guess over time the general standard might rise. I still can't suffer women's tennis though.

Did she not stink the joint out against a 1-day-notice replacement last time?

Yes at the Copper Box on the Joyce v Zhang card.

Even poor Joe was hit with the same lethargy as the crowd when she was in the ring.

Shes alright. Got a ****ed hand so earning how she can. She financially backs other female pros. Did well and worked hard to get profile she got - yep sex sells route, but far from worst personality in sport

Women fights are bloody awful. There might be 2 or 3 women with some talent, the rest is pure garbage.

99% of the fights ends on points because they don't have punching power. Nothing to see here.

About Bridges, she's a cheap ***** who does anything for some cash. Not a good case for women's boxing.

Just out of interest, which are the two or three women with the talent?

Noticed Bridges was down the front at Smith-Eubank last night. She seems to be ringside at every big show so the promoters must see something in inviting her.

Smith was sponsored by that awful Irish Stout right enough.

Andy Cruz is fighting Hector Tanajara. I wonder if that means that Gary Cully will be rematching Jose Felix.

Ray Ford vs Kholmatov for the vacant WBA World Title at 126 is next (Leigh Wood just vacated his title), I thought that would have been on this card. Also the plan was for Bivol to be on this card but I guess that has changed due to recent events.

Good to see Ebanie Bridges back. Hopefully she can unify against Nina Hughes next year. I have to back Bridges in that one.

Good card. Bridges doesn't add anything to it other than her usual routine and a lot of swearing.
