Enzo Macarinelli

No more trips to Micky's for him.

 

Doubt it but I wish him well, he seems a great fella.

 

Although he never looked physically good at the weight but he done well at CW. I think he's hard a lot of psychological knocks over last 3-4 years and the KO's have been really hard and must take toll. Plus as you get older the body gets bigger so going down in weight may not be what's best.

I sincerely hope it is i like the guy and he deserves to be back at top he clearly wants to be a champion again.

If he never felt like a CW he should have made this decision a long time ago. Moving down a division as you get older doesn't seem like a smart move to me.

 

No chance he will be a world champion again. Wish him all the best though.

 

This is surprising he would say that, prior to getting crushed by Haye he was constantly telling us he was planing to move up to heavyweight after beating Haye.

Maccarinelli sounds a bit deluded and looking for excuses for his losses.

Can't help thinking about Chris Byrd and his move to light heavy against Shawn George. Byrd had a solid chin where he was coming from too, Macca defo doesn't. He's gonna look weird and well skinny.

 

Yes, we keep hearing this, but if that was the case what was he doing fighting at cruiserweight? I don't believe light heavy is Enzo's natural fighting weight at all, he's just looking for one last roll of the dice.

 

Wish him the best but wish he'd stick to commentary. Not looking forward to where this little adventure is taking him.

 

I can't recall many situations (actually any right now) where an old fighter tries to rejuvinate his career by moving down in weight. Chris Byrd looked shocking, James Toney looked shocking, and I'm not convinced that Enzo isn't going to pay the price for doing this too late too.

I don't think it will be as bad as Byrd and Toney, but Enzo isn't already renowned for his punch resistance...losing weight this late on is not going to help, it's probably a disaster waiting to happen. He may look OK against a couple of jouneymen, but until Enzo shows that he has lost the weight well, I'm going to have to assume he is going to get stopped pretty badly as soon as he steps up above journeyman opposition.

The only way that I would change that prediction is if he isn't draining himself badly to get there, and he has actually been near to the weight since he initially announced his plans.
