Like most people on here, i am absolutely in awe of the ability of some of our posters to answer trivia questions. Hhascup and others are purely and simply incredible. So with this in mind, I am going to give my very best shot at tricking up these guys. So, lets see who, if anyone can guess my 10 trivia questions. These are not particularly difficult at first glance, but beware, some could create some solid debate and if you want 10 out of 10,They are not really particularly difficult, so it is a good chance for many ordinary posters to get in before some of the big guns of trivia answer. And who knows, one or two may create a little more difficulty than most people think.

    1. Who was the first fighter to retire as undefeated heavyweight champion of the world (Gloved rules)?
    2. How many light heavyweights have ever won a World Heavyweight championship fight?
    3. How many coloured fighters did John L Sullivan defend the world title against?
    4. Which fighter landed the last ever bareknuckle punch in a world championship fight.
    5. Which reigning world champion did Sugar Ray Robinson defeat to become the world welterweight champion?
    6. Who was the last fighter that John L Sullivan knocked out in a boxing match.
    7. Which high profile former champion wrote a series of articles challenging James J Jeffries to a unification bout when Jeffries was champion?
    8. Which former world champion fought a world Welterweight, Middleweight, Light heavyweight and world heavyweight champion in a two year period?
    9. Who was the first person to knock out the World Champion Jack Dempsey?
    10. What was the name that Cassius Clay adopted straight after winning the world Title from Sonny Liston?

So, good luck, get in quick to see who can be first to get ten out of ten.

I saw something like this before so I know all the answers, so I'll back off on this one for a while. I am in Atlantic City for the fights tonight, as I have to hand out a Championship Belt in the main event, but like you stated, some of these questions are a little tricky.

    8. Hint: He is the only Welterweight Champion to ever be rated in the Top 10 as a Heavyweight. I also knew him very well.

    9. Who was the first person to knock out the World Champion Jack Dempsey?
Hint: This Dempsey wasn't the World Champion at that time he was KO'ed by Flynn, BUT another Jack Dempsey was.

    8) C'mon people, this one's easy, and it's not as if we haven't discussed him extensively here!

    4) It was Jeffries who landed with a bare fist on Sharkey (only know this cos I've read a Sharkey and Jeffries biography in the past two weeks) :bbb

  9. Rasch

8 ) I can only guess Carpentier (he fought Lewis, Papke, Siki and Dempsey) .... was it in a two year period though? :?

**Edit ...... Just thought of Mickey Walker too

Bingo! Mickey did it in a later time frame than many would consider. Newly dethroned HW Schmeling in September 1932, about to be crowned MW Brouillard (who would take it from Ben Jeby in his next fight) in July 1933, reigning LHW kingpin Rosenbloom in November 1933, and WW Young Corbett III in August 1934 (usurped in one round at 147 the previous May in by McLarnin). All four opponents were in their primes. The Toy Bulldog ducked nobody. (Part of the swerve here may be that Walker went 0-4 in these bouts, although he did win a ten round rematch with Slapsie in May 1934, immediately before the Corbett loss.)

Carpentier fought Papke in 1912, Walker is the one he wants.

Like I said, I knew him very well, and he was the only Welterweight Champion to be rated in the top 10 in the Heavyweight division.

I have to leave pretty soon as we have a meeting before tonight's boxing show at Bally's in Atlantic City.
