I was just thinking about this matchup today... two truly quality fighters. McCallum had such complete skills inside and out, you figure Eubank would have needed to land something huge to really change the course of the fight. And then even if he did, McCallum's chin was awesome.

I just love watching Eubank against static or one-dimensional fighters (even if a top-class operator like Watson [1]); the flashiest of flurries, most beautiful of uppercuts and sneakiest of rights, as well as real agility.

For displays of flawless, superhuman boxing against good but somewhat overmatched opponents, I nominate the following: Ali v
Cleveland Williams, Hamed v Belcastro, Roy Jones Jr v Thomas Tate and Eubank v Denys Cronin. Awesome :thumbsup

They were down to fight on the same night as Benn-Barkley which would've been very interesting.

Not sure Eubank annihilating a hilariously musclebound welsh journeyman count as a good but overmatched opponent to be honest.

Cronin was actually a really good amateur, ABA champion and knocked out some of the top Eastern Europeans with his left hook, as well as beating Ray Close (another good amateur who beat Dariusz Michalzcewski in European championships) as a pro finally finding his feet in the paid ranks.

McCallum would have thrashed Eubank. End of story.

I think this fight would be closer than most on here think, none the less I still have McCallum winning a closely fought decision.
