There’d be a reason why! Eubank has a solid chin and a fantastic work rate. He was just outclassed by Groves. Ryder isn’t anywhere near Groves level, I’d back young Christoper to come through with a wide UD maybe even a late stoppage.
Cox - Ryder was helluva showing from Ryder. He definitely has the momentum here. Although CEJ has a point to prove now but honestly he doesn't seem like a guy who learns from his mistakes.
It’s agood fight for the fans and would be a sensible return fight for Eubank because if he wins easily. he would demonstrate he’s still levels above British and well in the mix at world level. However, Ryder shouldn’t take it. He’s genuinely on the cusp of a world title shot. He has Eddie Hearn behind him, it’s only a matter of time before he makes that fight for Zeuge’s title which has been a merry go round between average fighters for a while. Ryder should only take this if it’s crazy money, which I doubt it would be.
Cracking fight this hope there is enough money on the table to make it worth Ryder's time. If this gets made will be a good card and great end to the SMW tournament.
Ryder should swerve this fight. He is on the verge of a winnable world title shot and doesn’t need to take the risk. CEJ and old senile Senior, would likely be awkward enough to ensure it falls through anyway.
I’m pleasantly surprised that both fighters are considering this. What a potentially great fight. Hopefully Fonfara-Cleverly esque. They are both in-between weights in that they are big 160’s but small 168’s. They do their best work on the inside. I will argue that Ryder has a better jab and can throw a better straight (left) shot, whereas Junior throws a higher frequency and variety of hooks and uppercuts. I think some might think that Ryder’s fighting style and slow feet are tailor made for Junior but his defence is actually really good on the inside, he really tucks his chin in and being a southpaw adds awkwardness. He took out Nielsen and Cox very impressively so he can bang. Junior can take a shot though and I think he’d outwork Ryder to win on points.
Great fight. Proper domestic crossroads clash. Agree that Ryder doesn't really need the fight if he's looking for the easiest route to alphabet glory, but a win over Eubank would do more for his profile than a win over Zeuge, so there is some logic to it. They have two common opponents (without checking for obscure ones on boxrec). Both lost to Saunders in competitive fights, while Ryder was stopped by Blackwell who was dominated by Eubank. Ryder has looked a different fighter in his last couple of fights, and Eubank is not big at 168 himself. I think Ryder's angles could confuse Eubank, and in his defeats he has taken a while to get going and found himself well down on the cards early on. The thing with Eubank though is that he has always come roaring back late on, and seems to be more effective when he stops thinking and just goes for it, particularly when his opponent is tiring. I'm not sure Ryder could withstand a late rounds rally from Eubank like Saunders and the naturally bigger Groves were able to, and I would pick Eubank by late stoppage.
WBA Regular is not a real world title, it ranks below the IBO. I wouldn't think Ryder would lose any stock getting a beating from Jr, but if he won he would have a very good win.
Stylistically I would say Ryder is Taylormade for Eubank ! Eubank might not look great with someone who jabs and moves but Ryder , unless he has been keeping it under wraps , isn't that type of fighter ! It would be entertaining for as long as it lasts and that length would depend on how much Ryder can take ? Pretty sure the handlers of Ryder are not going to go for that fight .
