Anyone else a little uneasy with some of the comments and tweets Eubank snr is making regarding the fight with Groves?

Saw an interview with Groves this week thinking it's to influence the referee if there is a bit of a flurry...

Surely the board should intervene with comments of permanent damage to another fighter.

I posted this on another thread about this subject...

I didn’t think much of Senior has a man anyway, but his tweet to Groves was in very poor taste, and somewhat delusional.

‘This is what real fighting looks like’.

This, to a bloke who is deeply affected by the guilt from leaving a man in his prime, mute and in a wheelchair. Making out that his son is some kind of superior, train wrecking machine.

Very poor from Senior. I don’t believe it to be genuine concern

eubank is a very stupid person pretending to be a smart one. didnt he run over and kill some poor sod about ten years ago because he was driving recklessly? yet carries on the way he does without a shred of humility, acting as though he is example to be followed. i assume he is just too stupid to see how he really comes across to normal people.

I dont mind snr but those comments are disgusting imo, especially considering his history with it.

Cant be excused at all, wonder if the PPV sales are already looking pretty bad?

Snr was a great fighter but outside of the ring can only be considered a comedy character. As others have pointed he is a complete train wreck of a man and obviously harbouring very serious and deep issues which he covers up with this ridiculous monocled caricature.

His latest comments are really exposing his mental fragility and show very poor judgement. There are three possible triggers here:
    1. He is trying to play mind games with Groves and influence the fight somehow (Alec Ferguson style).
    2. He is still harbouring issues from the Watson fight and trying to protect his own son.
    3. The guy is a complete and utter loon.
He seems to be constantly interfering with sparring too (although this could be Eubank propaganda) also note the heavy strapping around Eubanks arm in sparring.

As someone said, he is an idiot pretending to be esoteric. i think that's the only way to describe him. those comments, considering what he went through, are just disgusting. and if he said it just to try and get in Groves' head and didn't actually mean it, it makes it much, much worse than if he was serious imo.

I don’t mind Eubank at all - But those comments are just horrible stuff. Both he, his son and George have sadly all badly damaged fighters and left them with horrific injuries so I really don’t get why on Earth he would be going down this route.

    The guy is a moron...

Attempting to talk in a well spoken accent misusing unnecessarily long and unusual words does not an intelligent man make...

Hugely distasteful but he’s too stupid to understand that...

Hopefully his son gets soundly beaten and he can go back to being an irrelevant has been.

Yes I agree with you all, the comments are ugly.

I personally believe they are out of concern and possibly fear for Jr, he knows Groves is a big man who punches very hard, he saw the sparring between the two and he knows that Groves has permanently damaged an opponent, Jr temporarily hurt an opponent and ended his career.

This fight isn't Groves wearing 16oz Gloves and Jr wearing a full faced head guard and Jr treating every sparring session like a real fight, this is actually a real fight with little gloves and Sr obviously has "permanent damage" on his mind.

Sr is hoping that Jr throws one of those long combinations and the referee jumps in, that might well happen in a 6 rounder regularly with a huge odds on favourite and it does occasionally in world title fights but the problem is it's an all British world title fight with a lot of feeling involved and you're basically asking a referee to "save" a champion from what you believe might happen.

Jr and Sr have made outrageous boasts, said some distasteful things and now the moment of truth is upon them.

Jr and Sr.. apparently you are both "WARRIORS", ruthless savages and want real fights.. well you've got it, so stop concerning yourselves with what you believe are remote possibilities.

I would love to see Jr dropped or seriously hurt (wobbled) just to see what Sr does, they say they don't have towels in their corner but I'm absolutely convinced if Jr is taking a beating or is dropped heavily Sr stops the fight.

Totally agree. I loved listening to Groves interview with IFL (properly the first time I have enjoyed one if his interviews tbh), he came across really well. I think Snrs comments and actions on his subject are disgusting. Can the board do anything, is he licensed by them ? Either way he's bang out of order.

I haven't seen Chris snrs comments. But I wonder if people are being a bit harsh on the man. He has always pointed out how deadly boxing can be. Is it possible he was being sincere?
