Even though he lost (allegedly), I think this kid showed he was the real deal last night. Obvious to anyone he had the talent from his last couple of fights, but it's clear to me he's got the intangibles too now. The way he came back after a cut like that to almost put Sherk away was incredible.

Rematch for that needed ASAP, then assuming he learns from his mistakes and puts Sherk away, he'd have a great shot of beating Edgar, imo.

Too me I didn't think he lost. I felt he did all the things to win the fight..but on one thing I agree with Dana on. When you put it in the hands of the judges..anything can happen.

this was a robbery to the fullest degree, you could even argue that sherk lost the round that he cut him in, its a shame that the cut/blood effected the judges enough to ignore THE WHOLE FIGHT.

    29-27 Dunham

I thought he won but really the 2nd round was kind of close.

But he did show he was the better fighter.

No robbery you score MMA round by round. Sherk cleary won round 1 and Dunham round 3 but in both rounds the other guy did things to keep it from going 10-8. Round 2 is a tossup.

That horrendous decision is what irritated me the most last night. That cut was terrible and he seemed to have fought through it for the win. Two judges thought otherwise. He will definately need plastic surgery and will be out of action for awhile. Dunham is an exciting young fighter with a ton of heart and considerable skills. He'll be back for sure.

Yes, you are absolutely correct upon further consideration. I wish Dunham had had another round though because he was really dominating Sherk with strikes at the end of the third round. He might have been able to end it with a little more time.

Dunham outstruck him and was looking for subs all night. I look back at that fight, and there is no way that Sherk won. Rounds 2 and 3 were clearly Dunham's, and round one could also be his, really.

He finished really strong so it looked like he won but it Sherk won the first and the 2nd was close.

If Dunham started like he finished then he may not have an L!

This result pissed me off, I thought it was one of those fights where the rounds were pretty clear and I had Dunham winning 29-28, if anything the only round that was debateable was the first, which I gave to Sherk. The other thing that pissed me off last night was the judge who scored the Guillard v Stevens fight 30 - 27. I had Guillard winning 29-28 but Stevens clearly won the last round.

Which IMO is very impressive. I was talking to my buddy on the phone between round 1 and 2 and we agreed with Sherk being a guy that forces a hard pace and has great cardio with Dunham bleeding so badly and spending so much energy squeezing for those Guillotines that he was going to gass out and lose in a very clear fashion. However he was the one who was breaking Sherk apart late and soooo close to finishing him off. Awesome fight though so impressive in many ways. Dunham being able to deal with that terrible cut and actually out cardio Sherk and have him tired and Sherk for fending off those Guillotines and taking those massive shots late and being off for so long but so competitive vs a damn good fighter.

Best UFC fight I've seen this year I think. Only thing that could have topped it off would have been Dunham getting a late KO to complete the comeback.
