let's see... lewis: w by sd bowe: w by sd if he is strategic regardless of bowe's physical advantages tyson: w tko 11 holmes: l sd ali: l ud foreman: w sd (will explain below) frazier: l sd (great fight!) liston: l ud marciano: 50/50 winner will be by disputed decision joe louis: l tko vs foreman: if you stay still or slug with foreman - you're gone. holyfield has the hand speed, reach, work rate, and boxing skills to outbox foreman imo - stick and move. the occasional bomb that foreman lands on holy - holy has the resilience to deal with. your typical image of foreman pummeling an opponent against the ropes is when the opponent is (1) short reaching or not a very mobile, great boxer (2) hurt and slow to recover. holyfield wa the opposite of both, especially the latter. until the opponent was immobilized and against the ropes - foreman kept following him like a mummy with a few sloppy shots. holyfield was a special fighter and a skilled fighter - he's not easy meat for foreman. so what is holy's record here: 3-5-1. not bad against ATGs
Just throwing this out there, how do you guys see a fight going between Holyfield and Charles at heavyweight?
just for comparison purposes... let's do lewis: lewis - n/a holy - l sd bowe - w tko 5 tyson - l tko holmes - l sd ali - l ud foreman - don't know frazier - ? w tko liston - l ud or tko marciano - w tko louis - l tko his record is: 3-6 - ? tyson: lewis - w tko (if someone argues the other way around - i can't blame them - this is 50/50) holy - l tko bowe - w tko tyson - n/a holmes - l tko ali - l tko foreman - l tko frazier - w tko liston - l tko marciano - w tko louis - l tko his record is: 4-6 bowe: lewis - l tko 5 holy - l ud bowe - n/a tyson - l tko holmes - l ud ali - l ud foreman - l tko frazier - l tko liston - l tko marciano - w tko louis - l tko record: 1-9 ; one could argue the holyfield fight. imo, holyfield fought stupid the first time and he KNEW it. he'd never pulled that stunt against tyson cause he cared too much. a fully "functional" holyfield could make it a boxing match and eke out a decision imo. as the cliche goes...anything can happen in boxing... CONCLUSION: holyfield did just as good as these guys. imo - he definitely makes top 10 head to head. he'd never lost to douglas, rahman, mcall, or golota. unlike lewis or tyson - the chance of a mediocre fighting beating him (at his best) is little. and prime ruiz is NOT a mediocre fighter but top 5.
