The thread has some truth, but not the whole truth. It's looking at someone's boxing career in the most negative way. Heck, you can do this with any boxer, even the greatest Sugar Ray Robinson. It's the point of view of a ctitical non-fan obviously meant to antagonize Cotto's fan base.
With the logic you display about fighters that Cotto fought, then there's very little credible boxers in the sport.....That's ridiculous right there... Being a good fighter / boxer is about many things. If you have eyes to see, then you should have realized by now that Cotto displays a really good set of tools and he has some serious skills. He might not have the best P4P chin in boxing but that's been better since he didn't have to drain himself to make weight.... The stamina issue is always a concern but that could be said about many others out there. The fact remains that Cotto seriously deserves his praises in boxing and his success sure wasn't offered to him on a silver platter...like we've seen with others through time !
That's the truth. Cotto doesn't have a million dollar smile, nor does he have a golden personality or mega charisma. He's always sold himself and done his talking with his fists in the ring, and for the most part, its worked for him. He's gotten where he is today by hard work and talent. We need more warriors like him.
people have their own personal bias. Some say PBF is a ducker/runner... Some say Pac is a gift taker... Some of the things in his post are good, some are more biased opinion... But I will say, he has some valid points.
"Push a little"? The original post is full of exaggerations, lies and bias and here's why: Is Quintana a C- welterweight? Are Torres and Malignaggi BUMS? Are Margarito's wins over Joshua Clottey and Sergio Martinez unimportant? (the thread starter suggests that the only wins that mattered in Margo's resume prior Cotto were the two Cintron wins) Did Cotto really go "back to his usual" (=fighting bums) for taking the Clottey fight? Can anyone guarantee that we will not see fights with Mayweather, Margarito, Berto etc. if Cotto loses to Pac and that if we don't get to see them, it will be Cotto's fault? NO.
