Wow, so someones still butt hurt over the fact Calzaghe beat people who proved they werent hyped or shot after they lost? Hopkins Draws Pascal Kessler UDs Froch Jones stops Lacy Manfredo wins the IBO Bika roughs up Ward You guys really need to lay off Cal, hes retired, hes undefeated, as john lennon once said......LET IT BE
You said this in a post already a couple days ago and decided upon yourself to make a thread about it today?
I agree with the quote however, not in the sense that some people understand it. Hopkins beating Pavlik does not make Calzaghe resume any better... However it does give us a better understanding of his resume. Hopkins performance against Pavlik showed that Hopkins was far from shot which many people were claiming after the calzaghe fight. Jean Pascal was considered the man of the decision, Hopkins ended up not only outboxing him but setting a pace that jean pascal couldnt handle...in the calzaghe fight it was calzaghe who set a pace hopkins couldnt handle. Calzaghes/ any fighters resume is what it is. and doesnt change regardless what an opponent does before or after.....But these factors logically will always change the way we fight resumes. To say otherwise would be ignorant!
I guess Calzaghe must have been a great fighter for him still to be the topic of so many threads 2 years after he retired. His resume is beyond reasonable doubt although I can understand why some may not have appreciated his style of fighting. He didn't land many clean shots in his latter years but not many know that his hands were seriously damaged before he even fought Lacy. He couldn't even spar in his last few years as an active fighter. In any case, I think this ghost needs to be laid to rest, it's a dis-service to still be talking about a fighter who has retired when there are so many great active fighters about.
Really...Seriously? Uh....Rule #1 in Boxing, "Styles Makes Fights!!!" If you don't know this or even understand this....WHY ARE U IN A WEBSITE DESIGNED FOR THE HARDCORE BOXING FAN? Hopkins losing a razor-thin decision to a Skilled Southpaw Boxer and then beating a Slow-footed easy-2-hit orthodox fighter...has NOTHING TO WITH UNDERSTANDING A RESUME BETTER NOR DOES IT MAKE A RESUME BETTER.
Manfredo won the iBO didnt he haha and Bika didnt give Ward an easy fight despite the score cards and jones beating lacy was the joke
