    What ever happened to him?

It's been nine months since his second career loss - a concussive KO at the hands of heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko.

There seems to have been nothing solid reported on him since then - no indication of retirement, no new heavyweight fights lined up, no announcement that he will be dropping down to cruiserweight as speculated by some...

At the time of that loss he was in the middle of an already respectable and still further promising career. Even the nature of that loss was nothing to be embarrassed about: during Klitschko's six year win streak only two other men besides Chambers have made it into the 12th round. During Klitschko's lengthy IBF title reign only one other challenger has done so. Prior to that Chambers had lost a decision to a still-auspicious Alexander Povetkin, in a competitive contest that many feel he could have won had he continued his manner of work in the early rounds before succumbing to a deficiency in either stamina or mentality (or both).

In the win column, Chambers had been effectively clearing out the field of other prospects and contenders (some fringe, and some more serious) over most of a three year period. Most of these wins were fairly comfortable exhibitions of his superior boxing skill relative to that of his opponents - although certain judges often denied him the benefit of the doubt due perhaps to stylistic bias.

In any event, the 28 year old Chambers should still presumably have plenty left to offer the sport - whether he should choose to continue campaigning with the big boys or try his hand under 200 lbs. If his confidence is not totally shot by his dreadful experience in Dusseldorf, there is no reason he shouldn't at least have something lined up by now for the early part of 2011...which would still constitute a costly year-long layoff and waste of a sizable chunk of his prime (even though heavies have a longer shelf life). His ring truancy could also cost him whatever rankings he had with the various sanctioning bodies.

    Has anyone heard anything?

    A legitimate, informative reply!!

    Thank you.

Well that squashes the CW rumors. :think

It's too bad; assuming a comfortable weight cut he'd have to be favored outright over many top talents (Hernandez, Jones, Diablo, Ross, Green, Huck etc.) - anyone except Cunningham, and maybe even him.

That would be cutting it close if it's taking place in February.

In the interview posted above he says it's looking like it's going to be Derric Rossy in a rematch. He didn't sound thrilled about it, but acknowledged that Rossy has improved since they last met and is therefore not taking him lightly, which would be wise coming off a year of downtime.

Are you able to confirm that it's looking like Rossy at this point?
