RJJ. Speed and power. I havent seen a fighter able to literally leap around a ring and ko opponents taking as little punishment as he did.

but... have any of you seen ever seen that clip of tyson shadow boxing in the gym? i've never seen anything (boxing-related) that amazing. he doubles up on the jab like he's shooting a pistol. the more times you watch this clip, the faster he gets. jaw-dropping.

Tyson did have phenomenal handspeed, but that footage is from '82, when he was 15 years old & had Atlas as his assistant trainer*.

*Atlas was fired by Cus in '82.

yeah i know - tyson wasn't as fast as he was in that clip when he was champ. just thought i'd throw the clip in there, though. like i said, most amazing piece of boxing film i've ever seen.

Because we'll never have film of him from 1919, or any competition footage at all which was shot by a motorized camera, we can only go by eyewitness testimony as to the speed of Greb. But I'm not aware of anybody who faced him in the ring who did not say he was the fastest they ever dealt with. That obscene record of his was generated with some peculiar natural abilities, and speed appears to have been his chief athletic gift.
