I've posted this a couple of places, but haven't seen anyone else mention it. http://www.bloodyelbow.com/2011/2/15/1994946/fedor-not-ready-to-retire-will-keep-fighting
That's a surprise....... not Of course he wasn't going to retire, they never do unless knocked ourt cold 4 or 5 times in a row like Chuck.
Strikeforce would do anything to bring him back in this tournament. Fedor and Overeem are the 2 big sellers of this event. He better not get some kind of free pass though, he lost convincingly and should be out unless someone gets seriously injured.
A poped blood vessel caused Fedor's eye to swell, this can easily be caused by one good punch, Credit to Bigfoot though he landed some in his GnP that caused it in the first place. However its now clear that apart from a busted vessel, there really wasnt anything seriously broken or damaged. Fedor's camp has already stated that he will be fighting Combat Sambo in 10 days. However looking at the standup, one has to admire how elusive Fedor was, watching the fight live it really looked like Bigfoot got some shots in but these gifs show a slightly different picture (no pun intended). Its no wonder Bigfoot went to the ground in the second. This content is protected This content is protected
The way Coker explained it it appeared Fedor was obligated to fulfil their deal. That said i would have been very surprised if Fedor didn't have a get out clause.
Same here. He used a technique that was common amongst Pancrase fighters. Although you need VERY good hand to eye coordination to pull it off. Watch Herring vs Takahashi. Takahashi employed a similar technique and also ended up with a very badly swollen eye although he was ultimately KO'ed.
I thought Fedor showed great defence throughout, especially when he kept closing the distance between himself and Big Foot when the d'arce choke was applied. can't be easy when you're locked in by a big old boy like that, and have already had your face punched in (despite Fedors herculean efforts to minimise the damage he took)
