So what do you guy's think...next fight for Fedor is going to be against the looser of Overeem VS Werdum ?
I just find the whole situation very sad. Fedor was genuinely one of the greats in the first half of the decade and his shady management after stopping earning more money and facing the best competition in 2007/2009 is now not letting him retire when he's obviously wants to. Anyone who is a true fan of Fedor should not be cheering on the obvious slave-driving of one of the few dominant world champions in MMA history.
Good im glad , the guy is not done at all , he has plenty left in the tank , there is always a question mark against a fighter even as skilled as Fedor in the cage and octagon when pitted against a bigger stronger wrestler / grappler , with a strong top game , lets be real the guy weighs 230 and the ring suited his lack of wrestling ability , the cage allows allows a more fluent fight suited to wrestlers , there was just no gettong away from Sliva for Fedor , its that simple . Yes he's slowed down , but that unique stand up was still on show , and his TD defence / sprawl in the first round was truly first class , Silva only secured the TD in the 2nd round because Fedor fully comitted to a straight right hand that missed by a fraction , coupled with the fact he wrecklessly walked Fedor down which was a clear indication he intended to wear Fedor down with his size . BTW ..................... can anyone clarify this for me , how can Fedor return to a Grand Prix he's just been eiliminated from ????
It does seem remarkably silly to have two reserves and Fedor to be allowed back in if someone falls out despite being knocked out of it. What's the point of the tournament in that case? Why have reserves in the first place? What if Overeem gets knocked out, does he get the same treatment? Fedor should at least fight Valentijn Overeem if they're gonna allow him back in should the worst happen, it's only fair, plus it adds fuel to the fire.

It doesn't matter what the initial rules were if we all want fedor to fight, then he'll fight. Whether he wants to or not, we'll all be up for Fedor vs Werdum/Overeem. Re the fight, that was one of the most painful rounds I've seen in combat sports, it was watched through the fingers for me. Don't think Fedor would have finished it in the third, he was just up for more punishment.. He lives to fight another day. I think he looked a little desperate in the stand-up and could have done with a decent corner (this is esB after all); that leading over hand right did no damage in the first, why leave yourself open to throw it first thing in the second?
To be honest that's all he knows at this point. Now some people on here will argue that his striking is elite. Yes he hits hard, fast and can knock people out with that right hand, but he doesnt set it up like and elite striker should. (Im gonna get some **** for this but **** it just being honest) Fighters coming up against Fedor have 10 years of footage of him and know how he fights. Big Foot clearly did his homework and the takedown was timed beautifully
I've seen better from him. Some say the first was pure fedor but I saw no patience or build up, it was like watching clay guida; he looked intimidated to me. They had 8 years of footage two years ago and 10 today, everyone has a plan until they get punched in the mouth, not everyone is bernard hopkins. The takedown was perfectly timed. Almost like he predicted Fedors first attack.
Well Fedor's major strength was his quickness and unbelievable reaction times. He was being put on the back foot by both Arlovski & Rogers but those reactions are what helped him avoid too much punishment and deliver that right hand for the ko in both fights But Big foot took that away from him by pressing him up against the cage to tire him and using his size whilst in the pocket to stop Fedor getting as much leverage in his punches imo.
Fedor was hitting with bad intentions, his punches were fast and hard, Silva was fortunate Fedor never connected clean. Fedors punches are hard to predict because they come from all angles. but once the the 280 lb bjj silva was on top it was a tough situation to get out of.
To me it looks like fedors day is over, I think you're right that his technique was based around quickness and reaction, as was Roy Jones, if Fedor keeps fighting I think he'll hit the same wall Roy did. That's why he got desperate... It wasn't working anymore.
