Like Erik Morales, Arturo Gatti, and Marco Antonio Barrera earlier in the year, Fernando Vargas becomes the forth warrior to hang up his gloves (or at least I hope he does).

Vargas provided us with great moments and put 100 percent into every fight. The guy always fought the best opposition available and never quit. Simply put, he was a true fighter.

I, for one, will remember Fernando for his machismo, toughness, and heart. It's been a pleasure watching him throughout his career and I wish him success, good health, and happiness after boxing.:good

I loved the courage and the guts he showed in the Trinidad fight, and the fact that he wanted to fight the best early to prove himself.

The DLH fight and his taking prohibited substances still bothers me though.

Still, all in all, he provided us with two of the best fights in the last ten years.

Now that the fight's over, I can give him respect for the entirety of his career. Some good wins, and while I didn't like his plodding style, he did have a fighter's mentality and had virtually no grasp of the concept of a backward step. If he unretires I'm still going to root against him. :yep

Vargas lost in an entertaining fight

115-111 (not a difficult fight to score)

**** is this supposed to mean?

Oxnard has more to do with him being the fighter he is than Mexico.

And Oxnard is in California. :deal

Misunderstood your first post then. Thought you were talking **** about U.S. fighters (or their heart at least). My bad. :?
