He was a rising prospect in welterweight in the mid to late nineties. David ???????? He was the black guy with the drooping eye.

    Tito's loaded gloves lol...

Reid doesn't get the credit he deserves imho. If he hadn't had that droopy eye, which forced him to wave his chin way up in the air he could have been a genuine badass.

I think he works on training fighters now. Atleast that's what I heard a while back.

Same case as Vargas. He was never the same after Tito Trinidad

They had to. His eye was getting worse, and his career was going to be brought to a halt very soon no matter what. You can't fight when you can't open your eye enough to see punches coming, they had to cash in while they had the chance.

Was the bad eye a congenital thing, or boxing related?

I dont think it was boxing related, he had surgery on it a few times.

yeah I think it was congenital, not 100% sure without looking it up but the main thing is that it was really bad, it forced him to hold his head up WAY too high, and it was getting worse and there was nothing they could do about it.

I will always remember him in the Atlanta Games losing to the cuban deuvegal, then with a single longshot he Ko'd the cuban and grabbed the Gold medal from the jaws of defeat. It was one of my favorite opportunist moments in boxing..
