The Winky Wright fight fell off because of Winky Wright. Winky also turned down Oscar De La Hoya and a rematch with Jermain Taylor because of money issues. Any one who has followed the sport for longer than Maywweather vs De La Hoya, would know that Winky was notorious for turning down fights because of the money. With that said, Floyd had no say in negotiations at that time, it was all Bob Arum. IMO Bob Arum was just using false negotiation tactics against a dangerous, top P4P, avoided 154 champion in Winky Wright to big up his own fighter, Floyd Mayweather Jr as a guy who would take on all comers at any weight class. Bob Arum had no real intentions of putting a small 140 pound Floyd Mayweather in the ring with a prime Winky Wright. Regardless, Floyd was with it, but that would have been a highly dangerous and stupid move by Arum. Does this sound familiar? Arum did the same exact thing with Margarito, Cotto and Pacquiao, this time using Floyd Mayweather Jr, but he really had no real intentions of making those fights happened. It was simply promoting tactics to big up his fighters.
