In the 140 and below days, he would exhange in a more toe-to-toe manner.
Since 147, he was more defensive and so natrually was less likely to get the KO...with that said...

The proof is in the pudding:
Miguel Cotto: 'Floyd Mayweather hit harder than Manny Pacquiao'
Shane Mosley: 'Mayweather hits just as hard as Canelo' -Mosley fought Canelo at 154lbs. Canelo = (41 wins, 30 ko's).

Mayweather has decent power. When he sits down and really lets his punch rip, he hurts people when he lands. Obviously, due to his brittle hands, he doen't usually sit down fully on his shots unless he plans to drop or KO the guy.

At 147 and 154 his power is respectable. People aren't going to walk through him and when he lands his power shots clean, people get rocked.

At 140 and below he was a dangerous puncher. He could pretty much end the fight with relatively few punches.

Floyd fan or not, it was a cheap shot, and Ortiz wasn't ready... (If u were wondering, I'm of the opinion that it was Ortiz's fault, and he deserved it after the head butt, but that doesn't make it any less a cheap shot)

I've seen 5 year olds stun grown men when they weren't ready for it... I'm sure a professional boxer can do it no problem

Not the biggest Floyd fan but what he does incredibly well is he has such great technique. He could KO anyone at long range or at short range ..Never considerd him a KO puncher but he is a dangerous puncher none the less .

That power is what the Ghost will come to understand and respect. It's not devastating power but it's very respectable and will bust you up. It comes when you least expect it and on a regular basis. Here's the kicker, He hits the same, from round one to round twelve. I've never seen him weaken on his shots.:bbb

I think he had much more power in the lighter divisions, he had 19 KO's or TKO's in his first 21 fights. I don't think he's carried his power to 147, but he has enough to make people respect it.

Actually he was a lot closer to stopping Mosley than many people think. If you go back and look at the 10th round of their fight, you will see with about 53-45 sec left in the round, Mayweather hit him with a body punch that almost floored him.

His power comes from being one of the most precise punchers in the sport today and using perfect technique. He uses full advantage of timing and leverage using his counterpunching style to use his own opponents strengths against themselves. Like 2 cars colliding. Floyd could actually be a bigger puncher if he chose too, but he's not the risk taker type. Uncle Roger always persuading him in the corner to "Box, box, box." Probably to make less mistakes as well. Brittle hands, etc. But overall he has good power above avg.
