Mosley landed those bombs in round 2 then got tricked into a boxing match and got out-boxed for the rest of the fight by the best boxer in the world. Didn't Shane do his homework? Floyd makes adjustments constantly throughout a fight, like he has before, and Shane was looking for an opening that never showed up again. He was doing the same crap the entire fight and Floyd was timing everything perfectly with precision. Floyd tricked him! When will people realize that you can't outbox Floyd and that you have to beat him with volume and aggression to have any chance, not try to beat him at his own game? Floyd's a boxer. You're not gonna ****ing out-box him for 12 rounds.
I don't think Mosley was trying to outbox. I mean, he was being told to jab his way in but that was to bring out the combinations and BANG. I don't think Mosley saw himself winning a decision anyhow. He fought the best fight he could have, and damn near closed **** down had he followed it up n capitalized. He got owned. Period. The opprotunity was there......
Mosley got excited when he realised he had floyd hurt. Game plan went out the window and he took punishment for it. What i also noticed is that when shane tried to clinch and rough up floyd. Floyd had snake like reflexes to make shane pay each time they were coming out of a break. Mosley did the same **** to margarito but margarito didn't fire off punches after the break. Shane should have done his homework as mayweather always fires off the break if he see's and opening.
two things I want to mention: 1. mosley really hurt floyd in the 2nd round, I think he almost stopped him had he followed up! 2. After the 2nd round I was suprised at how easy it was for floyd to out box mosley, he landed more clean punches on shane than he did on JMM!!!!
Definately. He was almost gettin woozy for a moment there, got a grip on things and took control. Mosley really could have closed the show if he really put everything together. The way he LATCHED onto Mosley after those shots connected was something else. I've seen dudes grab up after being stunned, but he latches on like a ****ing CAT. Not letting go for ****. Adjusted, and the rest is history.
Floyd's a master boxer. Aside from great single shots hurting him like tonight, he's not gonna get beaten in a boxing match. It's just that simple The biggest hope people have is to land a bomb and get him out of there. If Floyd had gone out in Round 2 tonight, we never would have seen him dominate the next ten consecutive rounds. That's the nature of the game.
He could've at least tried to feint his jab like Marquez did to try to set-up his overhand right better over his shoulder roll but instead he was either getting the **** countered out of him or standing there and taking combinations with no response. That was his only hope. No way Floyd's gonna let him set up his jab and not respond. Instead he wasted all of his energy looking for openings that weren't there. Floyd's at his best when he's countering and defensive but it's not like he's not gonna throw when he has the chance.
Floyd didn't trick Shane into a boxing match. You talk like Floyd got tagged in round 2 on purpose.. all a part of his masterful strategy or something... Shane blew his load in round 2 trying to finish Floyd. For the rest of the fight, he simply gassed and couldn't pull the trigger. Floyd looked great, but Shane also looked old.
Mosley's jab to the body set up that great right hand. Floyd took that jab to the body away and began to walk Shane down WHILE counter punching him. Seriously ballsy thing to do against someone like Mosley. This fight was very interesting from a tactical standpoint. I saw tactics change too many times from both guys. That was high level stuff in spite of the one-sided result.
Great descriptive language. That is exactly what happened. Floyd knows what to do when he's hurt. One good lucky shot is the only hope people of have seeing a Floyd loss -- yet he still knows how to handle that. Floyd will only lose if: 1. Pac takes the fight and manages to beat him comprehensively. 2. He ventures too far out of his natural weight class. Otherwise, Father time is going to be his kryptonite. An orthodox fighter needs a stiff jab to beat Floyd. Whenever Shane would throw a stiff jab, he landed it effectively. That is how an orthodox fighter can set something up.
