After another thread about another great Antonio Kid Pambele Cervantes.

I was thinking what you think would happen in a

    Floyd Mayweather vs Wilfred Benitez

I like Floyd and I like watching him fight I think he is one of the best ever.

We all know Benitez was the youngest world champion at 17 and the youngest 3 times in different weight classes at 22 and only the 5 boxer in history to do so.

I think Benitez would actually beat Floyd.

Any of you experts in here care to put their view across

Edit: I mean a fully dedicated and trained hard Benitez

I really don't know. It's tough to pick a winner between defensive specialists and here we have two of the best.

I guess it boils down to who can fight his fight and take the other guy off his game...

Maybe I don't have enough respect for Benitez but this seems like a mismatch to me. What does Benitez do better than Mayweather? I think he gets seriously overrated as a smart slickster--very good fighter but I just don't see it. Floyd is on a higher level.

I'm not picking a guy who fizzled out in his early 20s to beat a guy who's been on top of the sport for 15 years. Benitez basically did everything similar but worse than Floyd.

You know nothing about the guy. Pathetic post.

Here's a bit of info on Benitez. SRL said the has the best defensive fighter he ever fought. He said that Benitez knew which punches he was going to throw before he did. Palomino said much the same and said that the two best defensive fighters he ever fought were Duran and Benitez. And no ****ing was does Floyd go the distance with Hearns.

SRL and Hearns still each dominated Benitez, imo. He was harmless and ineffective against each of them, so I don't see his performance against them as much of an indication that he would beat another ATG fighter.

BTW, why are you so invested in tearing down more recent fighters? You have no idea whether Floyd would go the distance against Hearns. Weird that you think you're absolutely certain that one of the greatest defensive fighters of all time, a safety first fighter who's never been close to getting stopped, couldn't last the distance in a fight.

Murry Sutherland went the distance with Hearns.

Start a poll as to who thinks Floyd would go the distance with Hearns and let's see what the majority think. Simple solution.

I'm not tearing down Floyd at all. I'm telling you my opinion based on having watched them both fight. People who think Floyd would never lose fight if he was around during the fab 4 era are delusional.
