Flyweight enthusiasts

I want to start looking at some Great Flyweights. This is probably my weakest area of knowledge as far as weight divisions goes. I know some of the top names and can easily locate champions etc.

What were the strongest eras?
Why do you say that?
Some names I should look into outside of the obvious more well known ones?
Does anyone have a top 10 or 20 list they can share with novices like myself?

Are you wanting just to views fights or do research?

 

Either or both...mostly looking at compiling an ATG list in this weight class but my limited knowledge makes this difficult. So either or both if you have some suggestions.

Very interested in names that might not appear in title lists or slip under the radar for any number of reasons

 

Not interested in all time lists personally as just view fighter for what they did.

I like the old Flyweights but not sure who I'm interested in would make lists but:

Frankie Genaro
Izzy Schwartz
Midget Wolgast
Benny Lynch
Jimmy Wilde
Pancho Villa

The strongest era, was probably between the late 1920s, and the late 1930s.

The title was in contested, but there were a lot of great flyweights contesting it!

What about the best sub 105Ib fighters?

There's Wilde obviously, and Jimmy Barry, then recently there's Ricardo Lopez and Roman Gonzalez. Maybe Johnny Coulon somewhere lower down. Then my knowledge ends.

 

I mostly prefer 70s-80s flyweights.

Miguel Canto was very good, a bit like Willie Pep.
The Betulio Gonzalez vs. Canto series, and the Gonzalez vs. Shoji Oguma series, are all really close fights between evenly matched fighters.
Masao Ohba was sort of the Salvador Sanchez of the flyweights...career cut short sadly by a fatal car accident. Ohba's fight vs. Chartchai Chionoi is a very good fight.
Guty Espadas Sr. was always in the title picture.
Santos Laciar and Hilario Zapata had long title reigns.
Sot Chitalada was a two time champion who was champion for about half a decade.
